A Whole Lot of Volunteering and Giving in November

Melly Kinard accomplished downsizing and supporting her community with her Lowry neighborhood sale of her Christmas collectibles she had amassed over many years, including ornaments from the White House and a variety of high-end decorations. Melly, with a little help from LUN and the Lowry Foundation, put on a holiday sale on Nov18 at her home. It was a big success raising nearly a thousand dollars in donations that was divided between LUN and the Lowry Foundation.

Tuesday, November 28 was the last Lowry Foundation Silver Ropes project of 2023 at the Food Bank of the Rockies. The team sorted 17 pallets of food weighing over 6,640 pounds, the equivalent of 5,370 meals. The Silver Ropes volunteers gave their Food Bank of the Rockies leader Sam Alden an honorary Silver Ropes volunteer badge. Sam has been with the Silver Ropes team over the current year and helped the group log in approximately 500 volunteer hours and sort enough food to compose over 121,000 meal equivalents. The Food Bank of the Rockies is a favorite of the Silver Ropes Volunteers because of the impact that the organization makes in the Colorado / Wyoming communities where they are the primary food bank.

The Lowry Foundation Silver Ropes Volunteers that show up every month include Carol and Rick Dietz, Barb and Mark DeSarro, Joe and Sally Casey, Robbie and Randy Hyman, Jim Lusche,  Susan Robinson,  Karolyn Snow, Debbie Kaufman and Denny Head.

The Lowry Foundation Silver Ropes Volunteers will be back at it in January. Join your neighbors in making a difference, making good friends and maybe sharing a beer afterward at the Lowry Beer Garden.

The dates for 2024 first quarter are Jan. 11, Feb 15, and March 14.
