LUN is proud to partner with many community organizations to co-sponsor the 2nd Annual Denver Community Film Fest, which will be held at the Historic Elitch Theater. The night will feature a reception, screening and post-film discussion of the documentary Truth Be Told on May 21, 2026.
About Truth Be Told: This fly-on-the-wall documentary takes viewers inside newsrooms across Colorado, revealing how local journalists report, verify, and connect with the communities they serve. Filmmaker Brian Malone traveled the state to spotlight reporters, editors, and broadcasters navigating shrinking resources, rising misinformation, and growing public distrust. Part of the Free Press, Free Country project, the film underscores why a free, independent press remains essential to democracy.
The location is especially fitting, as the Historic Elitch Theater is a 135-year-old Northside landmark and the only remaining building from the former site of the Elitch Amusement Park. This will be a community-focused gathering designed to spark meaningful discussions about independent journalism, civic engagement, and ways to strengthen all of our communities.
Tickets are FREE but an RSVP is required. Due to limited space please only reserve tickets if you are planning to attend. We strongly encourage participants to make a donation during registration or bring canned goods to support the Bienvenidos Food Bank program.
