Lowry United Neighborhoods Launches Litter Free Lowry on Earth Day – April 22

Lowry United Neighborhoods (LUN) is pleased to announce the launch of “Litter Free Lowry,” a new community-driven initiative aimed at enhancing the beauty and cleanliness of the Lowry neighborhood. This program will officially kick off on Earth Day, Tuesday, April 22, with a special launch event at the Lowry Montclair Rec Center from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

“Litter Free Lowry” is designed to bring neighbors together in a collaborative effort to maintain a pristine environment. By adopting designated areas, residents can contribute to the overall well-being of the community while enjoying the benefits of outdoor exercise and fostering a sense of neighborhood pride.

“We’ve seen a growing desire within our community to take a more proactive role in keeping Lowry clean,” said Denny Head  at Lowry United Neighborhoods. “This program builds on the existing efforts of many dedicated residents, providing a structured and supported way for everyone to participate. It’s about pride in our neighborhood, getting some exercise, and working together.”

Litter Free Lowry & The Lowry Clean Team : “Small Effort, Big Impact” – A Collaborative Approach
Guided by the principle of “Small Effort, Big Impact,” Litter Free Lowry is organizing the Lowry Clean Team to empower residents to contribute to the cleanliness of our community through simple, consistent actions. This initiative underscores the collective power of individual contributions in achieving a significant and lasting positive impact.

The “Litter Free Lowry” program offers:

  • Adopt an Area: Volunteers can choose a specific section of Lowry to maintain.
  • Flexible Participation: Residents can choose their own schedule and method for litter collection.
  • Active Community Involvement: The program encourages exercise and neighborly connections.
  • Provided Equipment: LUN will supply safety vests, litter pickers, and collection bags/buckets.
  • Responsible Recycling: The initiative promotes environmentally friendly recycling practices.

LUN has identified 25 high-priority routes where litter tends to accumulate, ensuring that efforts are focused on areas that will make the most significant impact.
