Toys, Toys and More Toys

2024 marked the largest toy sorting event in 20 years for the Lowry UnitedNeighborhoods (LUN) and Cherry Creek North Neighborhood Association (CCNNA) as part of the Salvation Army’s Annual Holiday Toy Sorting Project. With over 50 volunteers stepping up, we tackled what seemed like endless pallets of toys – nearly double the number from previous years.

Thanks to our incredible team, every single toy in the warehouse was carefully sorted by age, gender, and specialty categories. These toys will soon head to local Salvation Army corps locations in Broomfield, Centennial, Aurora and Denver to be distributed to families who signed up earlier this year. The Salvation Army welcomes all families in need, no affiliation required, to receive support during the holidays.

Not just toys! Santa’s generosity included clothing, supplies, and gifts for kids to seniors this year, spreading holiday joy throughout our community.

A special thanks to:
– Wayne New for organizing the Cherry Creek North Neighborhood Association
(CCNNA).
– Denny Head for leading the Lowry United Neighborhoods (LUN).
– Major Nesan Kistan, Division Commander for the Salvation Army.
– N’Dea Carter, the dedicated volunteer coordinator.

This project is so popular that we have to limit participation to 50 volunteers each year
just to ensure there’s enough room to work. Mark your calendars now for next year’s
toy sorting event on the second Saturday of December.

A huge THANK YOU to all our volunteers and the Salvation Army for making this
possible. Your hard work and holiday spirit will bring smiles to countless families across
the Denver region this season.
