Wings Over the Rockies: Steel Across America – 9/11 Never Forget Mobile Exhibit
Saturday, August 1st Steel Across America, a nationwide mobile tour by the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, will be bringing in a 16,000 pound steel beam from the World Trade Center. This piece of steel will be traveling from New York to over 35 cities in 21 states for the 25th anniversary of 9/11.
On Saturday morning about 10 a.m., Tunnels to Towers volunteers will move the trailer down the street and then they will have a police, fire and military escort of the piece of steel into our parking lot.
Doors will open at 10:30 a.m. and the event will start at 11 a.m. with a presentation inside the hangar that will last until Noon. Then guests are encouraged to go outside to the mobile unit. The entire event will end about 2 p.m. and the exhibit will be departing and on it’s way to the next city.
The museum is closed for museum goers, but the Tunnel to Tower event is open to the public and free admission. (A little confusing, but everyone is invited for free).
What to Expect
- The Steel Artifact: Public access to touch and view the 26-foot, 16,000+ pound steel beam recovered from the World Trade Center South Tower rubble.
- Mobile Exhibit: The Tunnel to Towers 9/11 Never Forget Mobile Exhibit, a high-tech tool that serves as a traveling interactive museum with artifacts, news footage, and guided tours by FDNY firefighters.
