Raising Kids with Community Spirit in Lowry

November is a time of gratitude – a season to slow down, look around and appreciate the community we call home. Here in Lowry, one of the best ways families can give thanks is by getting involved together.

Building Community Through Service

Lowry United Neighborhoods (LUN) is working to expand opportunities for families and students to connect through local service projects – and one of our favorite initiatives is the Lowry Clean Team.

The Clean Team helps keep our neighborhood beautiful by picking up litter, maintaining shared spaces, and building pride in our parks and streets. Now we’re taking it a step further by partnering with local schools to involve 5th – 8th grade students in hands-on community service.

Lowry Litter Patrol: Students Making a Difference

We’re exploring creative ways to make community engagement fun and meaningful for school-aged kids – whether that’s forming an after-school Clean Team Club, creating a “Lowry Litter Patrol” group that meets once a month, or offering service hour opportunities for students who want to give back.

By getting kids involved early, we’re helping them learn responsibility, teamwork, and the joy of caring for their neighborhood. It’s also a great way for families to spend time outdoors and meet other residents who share the same pride in where they live.

Lowry Elementary School is now participating in Lowry Litter Patrol. If your child is a student there, you can encourage them to be part of one of the teams dedicated to keeping their school grounds litter-free.

These new partnerships teach our kids a vital sense of pride in their school and neighborhood by actively keeping it clean.

How Families Can Get Involved

  • Join or help lead a Clean Team Route in Lowry – they’re open to all ages.
  • Encourage your school or youth group to participate in a cleanup event each month.
  • Talk to your kids about community service and gratitude this fall – small acts make a big difference.

If your school, scout troop, or youth organization would like to collaborate with the Lowry Clean Team, reach out to connect@lowryunitedneighborhoods.org.

Together, we can keep Lowry looking its best – and raise a new generation of neighbors who care deeply about our community.
