At the “Fire and Water” town hall presented by LUN on March 10, Bea Stratton, Landscape Transformation Program Manager, Denver Water, provided practical suggestions for those of us who want to conserve the water we have. To help us use our water wisely, Denver Water strongly recommends the free service of nonprofit Resource Central’s “Slow the Flow” sprinkler evaluations. Their professional team will come to your location to perform on-site irrigation tests and a visual inspection, provide a customized watering schedule, educate you about your sprinkler system, and recommend ways to improve efficiency and reduce water waste. Bea explained that irrigation systems, like those we have in Lowry, that are 15 to 25 years old, are probably in need of an overhaul to be restored to efficiency.
Following the evaluation, whatever your HOA decides to do in response to the recommendations of “Slow the Flow” is up to the HOA or individual homeowner. However, often for a small expenditure to fix a problem, your savings in water usage will soon make up for the cost.

Residential or non-residential sprinkler evaluations are available for FREE. Appointments are available on a first-come, first-served basis during the irrigation season, typically June through August.
An HOA is considered non-residential. Two of the program requirements are :
- The property has an in-ground sprinkler system that is operated by one or more control clocks.
- The property has some grass (not just plants, shrubs, or a garden) that is watered by the system.
We would love to see a tremendous response from all of Lowry.
