Lowry Volunteers Help the Salvation Army Get Ready for the Holiday Season

We thank our neighbors who pitched in to work on Lowry’s first Salvation Army Holiday Toy Project. Special thanks goes to the Lowry Foundation Silver  Ropes Volunteers, LUN Board members and the Romeo Coffee group. To all of the “sorters, openers, boxers and counters” great job Saturday (12/11) at the Salvation Army (SA) .

We broke down toy donations into ages and gender as well as the major donation of Mattel’s toys for stocking stuffers. Then orders from the various SA locations for toys are packed along with clothing  requested by age and gender. The orders are then shipped to the SA corps ( regional churches) that have a list submitted by families in the area. Any family  in the church’s  zip code area is eligible in November  to request toys, with no requirement  to be affiliated with the Salvation Army or any other  criteria.  The  locations will then set up holiday distribution centers where parents can come in and select toys and clothing for their children based on their kids needs.

We hope to organize another holiday work session for next year.
