This month we are shining a spotlight on one of the many schools in our area where many Lowry families attend: Carson Elementary. Carson excels in many areas of its curriculum, but its commitment and focus on social-emotional skills make it a standout among its peers. As families see more children struggle with interpersonal skills, Carson’s commitment to the whole student is incredibly timely and important. 

Despite being designated a Blue Ribbon School in 2021 and new status as a DPS Gifted & Talented magnet school, Carson faces the same budgetary shortfalls as the entire district. Their PTA works hard to raise funds, which have since been used to fund teacher salaries, replace outdated technology and playground equipment, provide grants to teachers for classroom supplies, and fund several free events for the school community.
