On Monday, September 15, Denver City Council voted 10–2 (with 1 abstention) to implement the Waste No More ordinance. Nearly three years after voters overwhelmingly approved this citizen-led ballot measure, Denver will now roll out citywide requirements for recycling and composting at restaurants, multi-family housing, events, and construction and demolition sites.
Council members also rejected a proposed exemption that would have allowed some restaurants to avoid composting—a loophole Eco-Cycle and our allies strongly opposed.
This is a historic moment for Zero Waste policy in Denver! THANK YOU to the many Denverites and organizations who spoke up to their City council members in support of Waste No More.
This victory belongs to you—and shows the power of grassroots action to create lasting change!
