Lowry Elementary Garden Volunteers Needed

Lowry Elementary is hoping to add people to its group of garden maintenance volunteers to help care for their vegetable garden and outdoor classrooms during summer break. The group meets every Tuesday morning at 7:30-10:30 a.m. from June 2-August 18.  Volunteers can come for whatever time and days work for them – no need to come for the entire three hours or to come every single week.

This is a great opportunity to learn more about gardening (absolutely no garden experience is needed), to socialize with a group of like-minded people, to enjoy the Colorado outdoors and to help provide food for our community. The vegetable garden at Lowry grows approximately 300 pounds of food each year, which is used in the school cafeteria, sold at the student-run Farmers Markets and distributed directly to families in need. If you are interested in participating, please contact Lisa Davis, our garden coordinator at lisa@denverdavis.com
