This report summarizes the findings of the Lowry United Neighborhoods (LUN) Community Survey conducted on January 17, 2025. The survey aimed to gauge resident involvement in various community aspects, identify areas for improvement, and understand resident preferences for communication and engagement. 

LUN Community Survey: Key Findings & Recommendations

  • Moderate Community Involvement: Residents show a moderate level of engagement with neighbors and local non-profits, along with a moderate interest in LUN activities, noting a desire for more information.
  • Strong Interest in Social and Hobby Groups: There’s significant enthusiasm for participating in more social and hobby groups within the neighborhood.
  • Safety and Crime Concerns: While many feel Lowry is safe, a notable portion of residents have experienced crime directly or indirectly.
  • Preferred Communication Methods: The LUN monthly newsletter and direct emails are the preferred channels for community updates.
  • Desire for Stronger Community Connections: Residents want LUN to prioritize initiatives that foster a stronger, more connected community.

Recommendations:

  • Focus on Community Building: Implement more initiatives to strengthen connections, such as block parties, social events, and opportunities for neighbor interaction.
  • Strengthen Communication: Continue using the newsletter and direct emails as primary communication tools, grow the size of our reach in the community, while also exploring strategies to enhance engagement through social media and other avenues.
  • Address Safety Concerns: Collaborate with authorities on crime prevention and traffic safety and increase community awareness of safety resources and measures.
  • Promote Existing Resources & Explore New Groups: Increase visibility of local non-profits, sports/fitness groups, and social/hobby groups. Investigate the possibility of establishing new groups based on resident interest.
  • Consider Age Demographics: Ensure community programs and initiatives cater to the needs and interests of the significant population of residents aged 65 and over.
