A 501(c)(3) organization is a non-profit established for charitable, education or religious purposes that is exempt from paying federal income tax, as well as potentially certain state taxes. These organizations are prohibited from engaging in political activity of lobbying.

This new status does allow LUN to receive donations and donors may write off their donations. Checks can be made out to Lowry United Neighborhoods and mailed to LUN tresasurer, Denny Head at 510 Syracuse St. Denver, CO 80230.
