Lowry United Neighborhoods (LUN) recently received a most generous donation from our neighbor, Melly Kinnard. This substantial gift will help provide LUN with essential, financial resources to expand our efforts to represent all the residents of Lowry and Boulevard One.
LUN is now officially recognized by the State of Colorado as a nonprofit charitable, organization and we have applied to the IRS for a 501c-3 status. Because of Melly’s gift, we now have resources to expand our outreach and achieve our objective of inclusiveness across all income and ethnic segments of the Lowry community. LUN is the official Registered Neighborhood Organization (RNO) for our community. We work with the City and County of Denver on issues for our residents such as traffic, zoning and public safety. Assisting us in this effort is our District 5 Councilwoman, Amanda Sawyer, with who we have a close working relationship. Councilwoman Sawyer has demonstrated strong support for many LUN endeavors.
Melly Kinnard’s demonstrated support is far more to the Lowry Community than simply writing a generous check. Daily, she daily collects food, clothing and furnishings and makes sure they are delivered to the organizations that help those in need, like the Denver Rescue Mission and Second Chance Center. She is always on the lookout for food, clothing and usable household goods. If you have any of those items to donate, contact Melly at denvermelly@msn.com.
On behalf of LUN, we are so grateful for this donation from Melly and we are committed to using these funds to help build a stronger and more inclusive Lowry community and a great place for us all to live.
