LUN/LUV Crew Nails It at the Food Bank: 1,400 Bags Packed

Yesterday our LUN/LUV volunteers hit the Food Bank of the Rockies and worked the line like a well-oiled GM assembly crew. The only real difference was that instead of the line moving past us, we were walking back and forth down a long stretch of tables filling up weekend take-home bags for local school kids.

Each bag was packed with chili, mac and cheese, fruit cocktail, milk, oatmeal, meat stick, and snacks. By the time we wrapped up – with a little help from a few younger kids who pitched in – we put together 1,400 for students to take home on Friday.

Our great crew this week included Carol & Rick Dietz, Barb & Mark DeSarro, Karolyn Snow, Sue Brenner & Gordon Petersen, Barry Hochstadt, and Denny Head.

For those wondering about the new name … since LUN took over the old “Silver Ropes” program from the Lowry Foundation, the LUN Board wanted to rebrand the program to align with our mission. We picked LUN/LUV (LUN United Volunteers) with a heart logo. We’re putting the finishing touches on the logo and will soon make new LUN/LUV name badges for our regular, active volunteers.
