Water, How to Conserve It. Fire, How to Stop It.
Representatives from Denver Water and Denver Fire Department
Denver is getting drier. As Spring approaches, you may be asking: how can I have a beautiful yard that survives our changing climate without breaking the bank?
As you survey the Lowry landscape during this draught, you may wonder: If a fire breaks out, is our Denver Fire Department prepared to put it out quickly and what steps can I take to make my home safer.
The Lowry Climate Action Committee and the LUN Board invite you to a special Town Hall meeting at the historic Eisenhower Chapel to answer these questions.
Landscape expert, Bea Stratton, Denver Water’s Landscape Transformation Program Manager and a CSU Master Gardener, will debunk the myth that water-wise landscaping means a yard full of gravel and cactus. Instead, she will introduce the concept of “ColoradoScaping”—a vibrant, textural approach to landscaping that uses native plants, protects our urban tree canopy, and can slash your outdoor water use by 50% or more. Whether you are looking for a complete yard overhaul or just want to make your existing sprinkler system more efficient, this is the perfect time to plan for the 2026 growing season.
A representative from Denver Fire Department, will give you practical advice about fire preparedness and mitigation. In the event of a fire, is our fire department equipped and prepared to extinguish it quickly? What fire mitigation measures can Lowry residents take? What can Lowry Residents do to prevent fires? What steps can we take to stay safe? Learn what you don’t know about fire safety.
