Do you or know of someone that temporally needs the use of medical equipment like crutches, wheelchairs, walkers, or hospital beds? There is a terrific nonprofit volunteer organization that will loan at no cost to the user called The South Metro Medical Equipment Loan Closet.

The South Metro Medical Equipment Loan Closet’s (SMMELC) purpose is to provide temporary loans of durable medical equipment to persons 18 years of age and over, who need aid in their recovery from surgery, illness, or injury, serving the South Metro area of Denver, Colorado.

Loans are short-term, up to three months in length. There are no fees to borrow equipment. Cash donations are gratefully accepted and encouraged.

All equipment loans, donations, and returns are by appointment only. 

Call 720-443-2013 for an appointment to borrow, return, or donate equipment. Phone answered Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. unless it is a holiday.

The equipment we may have available includes wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, canes, hospital beds, knee cruisers, extended grabbers, toilet seat risers & stabilizers, shower chairs, chairs to move into/out of a bathtub, and other items.
