Saturday, June 29, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This year to celebrate July 4th, LUN is taking the reins and hosting the Second Annual Lowry Independence Parade and Celebration at Tailwind Park, E. 5th Avenue and Alton Way in Lowry.
The pet and human parade will march around Tailwind Park on Saturday morning and will be led this year by the Denver Police Mounted Patrol and also the Stilt Man. Decorated pets, kids, bikes, strollers, other wheeled vehicles and adults all welcome. Come early to decorate; free decorations provided. The streets around the park, Alton Way, E. 5th Avenue and E. 4th Place, will be blocked off to accommodate the parade route. Prizes will be awarded in several categories including cutest decorated dog, kid and adult.
In addition to the parade, music will be provided “Rock’n Rob”, a Lowry DJ. The Denver Fire Department will spray water over a section of the park for kids to run through. (11 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.). (Kids might want to wear their bathing suits under their clothes.) There will be two face painters (11 a.m. – 12:30 a.m.), hot dogs, chips and drink for sale, and kids’ games.
Our goal is to encourage all Lowry neighbors to come out, get together and strengthen our community.
It takes a village to pull off an event like this, so we are looking for volunteers that would like to help us make the second annual a terrific year. Please contact Denny Head at dehead1@comcast.net or connect@lowryunitedneighborhoods.org if you want to help.
