On Sept 27, 7:30 p.m., Boulevard One Community Association Board member Michael Nalick convened a meeting at Crisp & Green in Boulevard One to discuss traffic issues. The meeting was attended by about 12 Boulevard One residents, State Senator Hansen, State Representative Emily Sirota, Owen Brigner from Councilwoman Sawyer’s office and Barb DeSarro of Lowry United Neighborhoods (LUN) Traffic and Safety Committee. The primary concerns are speeding on Lowry Blvd.; lack of speed limit signs on the side streets; and lack of pedestrian crossing signs on two streets where the Linear Park path crosses streets. Barb DeSarro is Lowry’s traffic point of contact for Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI). Barb will contact DOTI again to find out the process to reduce the speed limit on Lowry Blvd. from 30 mph to 25 mph. The last speed study done by DOTI on Lowry Blvd. ran from March 3 to April 17, 2022, and did not indicate a high volume of speeders. Barb will also ask DOTI to study the traffic flows in Boulevard One now that it is almost built out.
Owen Brigner will check in with his contacts to determine when the new 20 mph speed limit signs will be posted in Boulevard One. Barb will pass on the emails from DOTI to Owen regarding the response about the pedestrian crossing signs. Michael will contact the developer to see about installing a parking sign to make customers aware of the underground parking lot by Target.
Attendees at the meeting and all Lowry residents are reminded to call 311 with traffic concerns, post on 311 on denvergov.org, and report street racing to the reportstreetracing.com website. Councilwoman Sawyer reminds all Lowry residents to make sure the city knows about your issue.
LUN has worked tirelessly on traffic and safety issues in all of Lowry and will continue to do so. LUN’s Traffic and Safety Committee meets once a month; the next meeting will be Nov 10,10 a.m., on zoom. All are welcome to attend.
