Tuesday May 6, 7-8:30 p.m. (doors open 6:30 p.m.), Eisenhower Chapel
293 Roslyn Street, Denver, CO 80230
On Tuesday May 6, the next Lowry United Neighborhoods Townhall takes a look at downtown Denver. What is the regional economic benefit generated by a strong city? What is planned and why should we care about the historic, cultural, entertainment and economic core that is downtown Denver.
There are big changes taking place downtown. Come learn what is happening from our panel of experts. We promise that you will be excited.
Up to 30%, of our municipal tax base is generated by downtown businesses and tourism. If downtown fails to thrive, the tax base will decline and our taxes will increase. What can we do to keep Denver a vibrant, safe, attractive city with a solid expanding tax base?
Our panel includes:
– Rodney M. Milton, Jr. (Boulevard One resident), Executive Director, Urban Land Institute Colorado
– Dorit Fischer , (Lowry resident), Chair of Downtown Denver Partnership Board
– Britt Diehl, Senior Director for External Affairs and Marketing & Communications, Downtown Denver
Partnership
Previously, many of us headed downtown for work, banking, a show, a sports event, unique shopping and restaurants. It’s where visitors to Denver go for entertainment, cultural and sporting events. In recent years regular visits for many of us have dwindled for a variety of reasons including Covid isolation, safety concerns and inaccessibility during lengthy reconstruction of the 16th Street Mall. Meanwhile, the availability of entertainment, retail and dining options have expanded in Cherry Creek, Lowry and beyond. So, why should we care about downtown, and, just what is going on down there anyway?
Following the panelist presentation there will be an opportunity for you to ask questions and see if they have convinced you that it is time to take another look at Downtown Denver! Please join us on May 6 for this engaging discussion!
There will be a brief annual Lowry United Neighborhoods meeting preceding the program. This is a required annual Registered Neighborhood Organization confirmation of our dedicated, all-volunteer Board. Click here to learn about the slate of board members to be confirmed on May 6.
