At the At-large DPS School Board Candidate forum on October 17, Kwame Spearman and John Youngquist faced each other to discuss the issues confronting our public schools. About 85 Lowry neighbors attended the meeting to learn and ask questions. Topics that were covered included: hiring and keeping good teachers, evaluating teacher competence and performance, safety and security in the schools, budget issues, equity in disbursement of limited resources, the role of soft money in campaigns, and many more. The meeting ended with 45-minutes of open questions from members of the audience. The meeting was moderated by Lowry neighbor, Todd Neff.
