The goal of our efforts is to engage with residents on their concerns\, and to hear your ideas\, experiences\, and expectations on what can be done to make our city more affordable with as much participation as possible. DESCRIPTION:Lowry Speaker Series: Dr. Claire Oberon Garcia \nWednesday\, September 18\, 2024 \n7-8:30 p.m. \nEisenhower Chapel – 293 Roslyn Street\, Denver\, CO \nClaire Oberon Garcia\, Ph.D.\, is a Doctor\, Former Dean\, Woman of Distinction\, and Colorado State Historian. As a professor of English at Colorado College\, she teaches and conducts research in the fields of literature\, Black Atlantic Studies\, and feminist and gender studies. Dr. Garcia is the current Colorado State Historian\, who serves as an ambassador of Colorado’s history. Since 1924\, History Colorado has appointed Colorado’s State Historian to work with the State Historian’s Council to preserve\, interpret\, and share our state’s past. During her term\, she has hoped to explore how Colorado has influenced the broader world\, also how the world has influenced our state. She will talk this evening about the connections between historical knowledge\, national narratives of identity and thriving democracies. \nThis event is free and open to the public; no reservations required.
