DESCRIPTION:Mike Lammons and Bill O’Rourke – have a new home for their Thursday evenings acoustic guitar sessions. Come to Sunset Park from 7 – 8:30 p.m. to hear these guys. Lammons and O’Rourke started playing in Lowry during the pandemic as a way for the community to get outside and come together. You may have heard them over at Bayaud Park. They play acoustic guitar and perform songs from several decades that you are sure to know. \nOn Thursday\, August 3\, they will be at the backyard of the Net North (as Sunset Park is booked for another event that night). Met North is located at 6619 E. Lowry Blvd. The concert will take place in the backyard on Magnolia St. near the intersection of Magnolia and Niagara.  (If you are driving\, you can park on Niagara or Magnolia.) \nConcert is free\, come out and hear some good music. Please bring your own portable seating\, snacks and beverages.

The story is being told through the eyes of G-ma\, a hip grandmother is telling the Black hair history story to her granddaughter Kayla\, and Kayla’s best friend Hanna. Kayla is ashamed of her natural hair\, and the kids at school tease her. That’s when G-ma saves the day with her hair stories. Each story G-ma tells\, will take the audience to a play of nostalgia and love to different Black hair journeys in time. Braids\, conk’s\, lye\, Afro puffs and curls. Each time period will display the struggles and victories of Black Hair. The ending of the play will bring in a celebration\, as G-ma has taught Kayla how to love and embrace her natural hair.
