SUMMARY:Earth Day!
DESCRIPTION:Why do we celebrate Earth Day?\nEarth Day is celebrated in the U.S. on April 22 every year. While it is not a federally recognized holiday\, many celebrate the day through environmental education\, awareness and action. \n As an individual\, you yield real power and influence as a consumer\, a voter\, and a member of a community that can unite for change. \nDon’t underestimate your power. When your voice and your actions are united with thousands or millions of others around the world\, we create a movement that is inclusive\, impactful\, and impossible to ignore. \nEvery Earth Day can drive a year of energy\, enthusiasm\, and commitment to create a new plan of action for our planet.

SUMMARY:Block Builders Introductory Meeting @ Senior Planet
DESCRIPTION:YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE TO MAKING OUR COMMUNITY SAFER AND MORE SECURE \nLearn how on Tuesday\, Feb. 20 from 4 – 5 p.m. at Senior Planet. \n\n   Are you concerned about safety in Lowry?\n   Would you like to increase the sense of safety and community with your neighbors?\n   Do you know your neighbor’s name across the street or down the block?\n   Do you know how to contact them if you want or need to?\n\nIn January\, Lowry United Neighborhoods (LUN) hosted a meeting on crime and safety for the Lowry Community with Denver Chief of Police\, Ron Thomas\, and Denver District Attorney\, Beth McCann. They discussed activities and programs that can increase safety in our community. \nThe police are not the only ones that can significantly reduce crime\, we all have a role that can contribute to safer and more secure neighborhoods. The key is knowing your neighbors. Neighbors who know neighbors tend to watch out for each other and report if something does not look right. A secondary\, but significant\, benefit is neighbors who know neighbors make a stronger community by building social interaction and holding neighborhood events. \nThe program is called Block Builders. Other Denver neighborhood organizations have successfully used Block Builder programs for many years. It involves a volunteer block leader (or co-leaders) maintaining and sharing a private contact list within your neighborhood block or housing complex. \nAt the January meeting\, LUN announced we would facilitate an introductory meeting for neighbors who would like to learn more about Block Builders. This meeting is scheduled for Tuesday\, Feb. 20 from 4:-5:00 p.m.at Senior Planet. \nTo register for this meeting\, complete this form. \nMeeting Location – Senior Planet:\n7585 E Academy Blvd\nDenver\, CO 80230\n(Senior Planet is located behind the Lowry Beer Garden and next to the Wings Museum.) \nPlease come out and learn how easy it is to set up Block Builders on your block \n  \n  \n
