SUMMARY:Girl Scouts Dream Lab: Make Arepas and Fresh Salsa with Slow Food Denver
DESCRIPTION:What are arepas? These are a South American staple\, particularly in Columbia and Venezuela\, arepas are stuffed cornmeal cakes that are crispy outside and fluffy inside. Registrants will learn how to make arepas with Slow Food Denver. In the workshop kids will also be learning basic salsa-making techniques and making their own salsa using a variety of seasonal ingredients to top off their delicious arepas. \nAbout Slow Food Denver \nSlow Food Denver is a chapter of Slow Food U.S.A.\, a global\, grassroots movement that links the pleasures of growing\, cooking\, and eating food with the community and environment. Slow Food was founded in Italy in 1986\, and inspired chapters in 160 countries worldwide\, with one hundred in the U.S. Slow Food Denver\, founded in 2001\, is committed to the enjoyment of local food by all members of the community\, seeking to create a more just and sustainable food system.
